New milestone: 500 robots!

FarmDroid has hit a milestone: 500 autonomous seeding and weeding robots are operating across 23 countries! This achievement marks a key moment in our mission to empower farmers through robotics by helping farmers cut costs on fuel and plant protection substances while promoting sustainable practices.

This achievement stems from our roots when brothers Jens and Kristian Warming founded FarmDroid. Jens’ vision of automating seeding and weeding tasks , born from firsthand challenges, has steadily grown with each farmer joining our journey.

Our progress is built on partnerships with customers and support from our FarmDroid Care team and distributors. Fostering these connections drives our improvement and pave the way for our growth.

One of our founders, Jens Warming, reflects on our company’s journey:

We’ve come a long way, starting in our own sugar beet field in Denmark. We’re grateful to our early adopters who trusted us and helped spread the word with their recommendations.

Co-Founder, Jens vest Warming

Limited-Edition FarmDroid FD20 in black

To mark this milestone, we’re launching a Limited-Edition FarmDroid in black , specially designed for this occasion. It comes with extra perks: an extended warranty, a full service plan, and a toolbox with essential tools that we know our customers appreciate. But that’s not all! Order by the end of August for a chance to win a memorable trip to LEGOLAND Billund and our HQ in Vejen!

As we celebrate the milestone of 500 robots in operation, we are excited about the future. Our vision is to further innovate and expand to empower farmers with cutting-edge automation for sustainable farming.

Kristian Warming shares his excitement:

“500 robots worldwide – it’s wild to think how far we’ve come. Thanks to our innovative farmers who partnered up with us since the beginning, we keep improving our operations. Now, we’re aiming for 1,000 robots in the fields, boosting efficiency and yields while reducing inputs.”

Co-Founder Kristian Vest Warming

With ambitions of seeing 1,000 robots in fields worldwide, we remain committed to our mission to revolutionize agriculture for both organic and conventional farmers alike. Join us on our journey as we push forward in autonomous precision farming.

Did you know you can use FarmDroid in Autumn for winter crops?

Embracing new technology is an exciting journey and learning to work with it can take a little time.

Our customers are discovering how to make the most of their FarmDroid FD20 by fine-tuning robots’ settings and experimenting with off-season tasks. Many use their FarmDroids during the autumn season, sowing winter seeds around August and September.

FarmDroid isn’t just for spring and summer—it’s a versatile year-round asset for more than 50 crops. The high precision seeding system caters to multiple ways to seed and can do single seeding, portion seeding and line seeding. Most of our customers choose to sow winter rapeseed, while others try winter onions. There are other possibilities, too.

FarmDroid Winter Cover Crop

Why sow winter crops with FarmDroid?

Firstly, it’s an excellent way for new users to get familiar with their robot during the “off-season”, so they are well-prepared for the main season in the spring. Plus, using your FarmDroid year-round maximizes your investment.

Winter crops also bring significant benefits to the soil

Autumn-sown plants capture nutrients, preventing them from leaching away. As they decompose, these nutrients are released, boosting the next crop’s growth. For example, sowing winter rapeseed can increase the yield of the following grain crop by about 10%. These crops also enhance the soil’s carbon content, improve its structure, boost water retention, and support biological activity. Additionally, covering the ground in autumn and winter reduces erosion from wind and water, benefiting the entire ecosystem. The lightweight nature of the FarmDroid prevents soil compaction compared to traditional farming machines which further secures a healthier soil.

Customers who go the extra mile to use their FarmDroids to their fullest potential reaps all the benefits mentioned in this article.
