The New Farmdroid Robot FD60 Is Here!

The New FD60 FarmDroid Robot

Meet the FD60, the next FarmDroid robot

The new bigger FarmDroid robot FD60 is here: a field robot that seeds and mechanically weeds the crops automatically.

A bigger FarmDroid means bigger possibilities. The FD60 handles up to 60 hectares in a single season.

It seeds and weeds several beds at once, up to 20 rows and 6.75 metres working width, configured to fit your bed layout and fields. The configuration example below shows how it can looks like in practice: three beds of onions, six rows each, covered in a single pass.

FarmDroid Field Diagram

It moves at up to 2 km/h. Solar and battery run the day-to-day, with a Range Extender as backup for cloudy stretches or long days. And because it weeds mechanically, no herbicide is needed.

Take 12 rows at 50 cm row spacing across 6 metres, in a single pass, on beds of beet, maize, or, for example, green beans, and other crops too, as in the configuration example below: double the capacity you might know from the FD20.

Configure your FD60 based on your crops, fields, and needs: move through the setup step by step and see how each choice shapes the final machine. At the end, you get a clear price estimate to work from.

The FD20 fleet just set a record season. Here are the numbers.

FarmDroid Robot FD20

The FD20 fleet just set a record season. Here are the numbers.

The 2026 season set seven records across the FD20 fleet, and three are hard to ignore. The record seeder in France sowed 77.7 hectares with 8mm precision. The record weeder in the Netherlands cleared nearly 195 hectares on a single sugar beet field through repeated passes. And the night shifter, also French, worked 420 hours in the dark, between 6pm and 6am, with zero operator involvement.

That’s only three of seven records. Explore the rest for yourself.

Robot Seeder and Weeder Efficient for Organic Crops

Janelle Rudolph

A Saskatchewan organic producer reports stronger plant outcome using a precision agriculture robot for seeding.

For organic, horticulture, and small-scale farmers a new toy is available and making waves.

Stefan Graner, an organic farmer near Paddockwood, Sask. has been utilizing FarmDroid, an autonomous seeding and weeding robot, for four years. Its efficiency and accuracy have proven to have strong economic benefits for him.

At between $150,000 to $180,000 they’re not cheap investments, even with federal funding available. But for Graner’s operation, the technology has been such a great addition that he now has three of the robots.

Graner and his wife made the switch to organic farming in 2018, after beginning their farm in the 1990s.

“We’re relatively small-scale,” he shared at the Saskatchewan Organics field day on July 31.

“I probably do a total of 750 acres myself. Of that, some is in cover crops, and maybe four to 500 or 450 are in crop this year.”

Typically, Graner seeds a crop for two years and follows with two to three years of cover crops. But the field he showed off at the field day had been cropped for four years, starting with mustard, then hemp, oats, and now black lentils.

The lentils were seeded by the FarmDroid, and have been weeded by it too. The robot has had its work cut out for it, though, as Graner shared there’s been plenty of volunteer oats in the crop and alfalfa — which was his cover crop from five years ago.

How precision weeding reduced manual labour by 200 hours per hectare

Seeing it work is believing it

What does precision weeding look like in practice? On an organic onion farm in northern France, managed by Philippe Vieville, FarmDroid reduced manual labour by up to 200 hours per hectare. With precise seeding and early mechanical weeding, the robot helps keep fields clean and reduces the need for extensive hand work throughout the season.

In this article, you can see how FarmDroid is used in daily operations and what that means for workload, planning, and results in the field.
